Abstract: In faced of financial uncertainties and reduced job opportunities, further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the consequences is the increase in crime rates, especially vehicle thefts and robberies. Within this context, specific problems may arise, such as: What are the ways to prevent or help in the recovery of stolen or robbed vehicles? This study aims to provide theoretical and practical foundation for a proposal for an IOT solution, which will enable users to block their vehicles, signalling a theft, so that the collected data can be used for mapping through a machine learning-based solution. It will identify areas more prone to these incidents of theft or robbery, allowing for the creation of alerts to other drivers. In addition, this platform can share its data with other sectors of society, such as police and insurance companies.
