My main focus in on application modeling, authoring, validation and execution. Past and present collaborations include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.midiacom.uff.br\">MidiaCom lab<\/a>\u00a0team at\u00a0UFF <em>(Universidade Federal Fluminense)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.telemidia.puc-rio.br\/about\/\">TeleM\u00eddia<\/a>\u00a0team at PUC-Rio.<\/li>\n<li>the <a href=\"http:\/\/tyrex.inria.fr\">Tyrex<\/a> team \u00a0at Inria Grenoble-Alpes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>Main interests<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Multimedia authoring languages and models<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>This includes exploring new ways to provide media synchronization at scene level, thinking at multimedia authoring language abstractions and multimedia model entities to represent synchronization or authoring tools to facilitate the creation of multimedia documents.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>My background in this topic includes (but is not limited to) the development of the <a href=\"http:\/\/eic.cefet-rj.br\/~jsantos\/2017\/01\/02\/xtemplate-3-0\/\">XTemplate<\/a> language and the <a href=\"http:\/\/eic.cefet-rj.br\/~jsantos\/2017\/01\/02\/api-ncl-para-autoria\/\">aNa API<\/a>\u00a0collaborating in the development of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midiacom.uff.br\/~caleb\/jns\/\">JNS<\/a>\u00a0(JSON NCL Script),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.midiacom.uff.br\/~caleb\/ncl4web\/\">NCL4Web<\/a>, NEXT (NCL Editor Using XTemplate) and STEVE (Spatial-Temporal View Editor for Authoring Hypermedia Documents).<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Multi-sensory <em>(mulsemedia)<\/em> authoring and modeling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>Multi-sensory (mulsemedia) applications provide sensory effect synchronization with audiovisual content. The authoring of such kind of application is author-dependent as no model for representing such kind of application is available yet. I&#8217;m currently working on such topic using my background in multimedia to provide a model for mulsemedia applications.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Multimodal interactive environments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>A constraint to multimedia applications has always been user interaction.\u00a0IoT brings the possibility of integrating sensors in multimedia (or mulsemedia)\u00a0application enabling users to\u00a0interact via gestures, speech, etc. Different from the mulsemedia modeling point of view, the idea here is to provide tools for multimodal interaction. I have a few students exploring this interesting field right now.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Multimedia document validation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>This includes exploring how to model facilities provided by declarative multimedia authoring languages for providing document\u00a0validation. Formal approaches are of interest while modeling multimedia languages. Interesting research topics I&#8217;m currently working on are (i) providing a formal definition of multimedia documents and a classification of multimedia languages; (ii) providing game-narrative validation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>My background in this topic includes (but is not limited to) the development of the SHM (Simple Hypermedia Model). SHM is a formal representation for\u00a0the generic behavior of multimedia documents. Using SHM I am able to provide validation in two different ways: (i) modeling document behavior as a rewriting theory and using a model-checker and (ii) modeling document behavior using constraints\u00a0and using a SMT (SAT Modulo Theories) solver.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Internet of Things<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>Once we start to work at mulsemedia, sensors and actuators integration plays an important role.
