Paper accepted at DocEng 2017

One of the students I advise, Raphael Abreu, had the following paper

Using Abstract Anchors to Aid The Development of Multimedia Applications With Sensory Effects

accepted as a full paper at the DocEng 2017 Symposium in Malta.

Excellent job Raphael!

Foundations on Multimedia Systems (2017.1)

This trimester students produced the following works:

  • Carlos Roberto developed an NCLua application where the video sound level is controlled by the user distance in relation to the exhibition device. (download work)
  • Leonardo Preuss developed an NCLua application where the subtitle color changes according to the emotion  in the text. (download work)
  •  Raphael Abreu developed a processor for the automatic creation of anchors in a multimedia document using video tagging provided by a convolutional neural network. (download presentation)
  • Roberto de Castro developed an NCLua application in the context of 4.0 Industry where temperature sensors trigger the presentation of medias indicating problems in the factory work plan. (download work)
  • Yukio Okuno developed an NCLua application where the application content is adapted to the user heart beat rate. (download work)

SIADE2 – System to Support Aging Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment

Role: Participant

Program: FAPERJ Research in Aging Diseases Program – 2016

Project SIADE, founded by FAPERJ from 2013 to 2016, initiated the research in systems to support the diagnoses of dementia, Alzheimer and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Project SIADE2 builds upon these results to refine the proposed system and extend it to other diseases. Another focus of this project is the research in mulsemedia authoring and its application to cognitive exercises to the elderly as an approach to prevent neurodegenerative diseases.

The following researchers are enrolled in this project: Débora Christina Muchaluat Saade (UFF – coordinator), Flávio Luiz Seixas (UNESA), Aura Conci (UFF), Lincon Faria da Silva (UFF), Anderson Amendoeira Namen (IPRJ/UERJ), Sílvia Mara da Costa Campos Victer (IPRJ/UERJ).

REI – Communication in Smart Electrical Networks

Role: Participant

Program: FAPERJ Support to Emergent Groups 2016

This project focus on designing and developing solutions for communication in smart electrical networks, considering the distributed generation and bidirectional data exchange among generator/distributor and clients.

The following researchers from UFF are enrolled in this project: Diego Gimenez Passos, Ricardo Campanha Carrano, Natália Castro Fernandes and Igor Monteiro Moraes (coordinator).

WebMedia 2016 Accepted Papers

I had three papers accepted in WebMedia 2016, they are:

  • Challenges in Modeling Multimedia Applications with Multiple Sensorial Effects (WSoT – Workshop on Synchronism of Things)
  • STyLe: Extending NCL for providing Dynamic Layouts (Full Paper: Main track)
  • NCL-Tester: Graphic Application for NCL Documents Temporal Test Creation (Short Paper: Main track)
